Telecom's Calling
GTE Co. and Spanish Telephonic will invest a total of US$900 million, over 10 years.

AT&T has invested US$30 million in a plant in Guadalajara, and the company expects to invest about US$1 billion more.
MCI Communications Co. Will invest US$1.8 billion over five years. Motorola bought 85 percent of a Mexican company, and will invest US$70 million. Bell Atlantic is interested in building a fiber optic network, representing an investment of US$800 million. |

Nextel is also interested in long distance services, and will invest US$412 million.
IXC Long Distance Westel Inc. & Teleglobe. Another big investment on long distances services -- US$2.5 billion.
Oil Industry Boiling
DuPont will invest US$70 million on environmental technology.
Amoco Oil Company will sell car oil and auto parts in gas stations. US$70 million investment.
BASF (Germany) will build a polystyrene factory in the State of Tamaulipas, representing an investment of DM82.1 million.
Nova y Noranda (Canada) will invest US$2 billion on pipeline safety and operation technology .
Auto Industry Revs Up
General Motors is seeking a 12 percent increase in investment.
Honda Motor Co. intends to produce 7,000 Accord units per year, with a US$50 million investment.
Porsche AG will produce a sports car in the BMW plant. The company is investing US$ 20 million.
BMW will make 3,000 units a year in the next three years and 10,000 in the next seven. Their expected investment is US$170 million.
Chrysler is building another plant, investing US$180 million.
Ford Motor Co. will invest US$250 million.
Nissan will invest US$300 million to increase the level of national integration of their cars.
Peugeot will introduce their cars to the Mexican market in 1996.
The German multinational Siemens will build an auto parts factory in Aguascalientes. The investment will be US$18 million.
Yamakawa Industrial will also will establish an auto parts plant, costing US$27 million, in Aguascalientes.
Diverse Interests
In the insurance sector, Aegon (Netherlands), will invest US$167 million dollars over the next 10 years.
The giant Coca-Cola Co. will invest US$80 million in a plant in Villahermosa, Tabasco.
Korea's Daewoo Electronics is planning to produce 10 percent of the world's electrical household goods by the year 2000. Investment will be US$480 million for a plant in Sonora, and US$120 million for a new plant in Queretaro.
From Germany, Boehring Ingelheim, will export pharmaceutical products to the USA and Canada. The company will invest US$58 million.
GTE Data Services will invest US$30 million in a computer center in Cuernavaca, Morelos, and will up the investment to US$200 million in the next five years.
General Electric is planning to construct an electric plant in Samalayuca at a cost of US$150 million.
